Ingredients
3 ripe avocados
½ cup finely chopped red onion
¼ cup chopped cilantro (or parsley as a substitute)
1 garlic clove, minced
1 jalapeño, seeded and finely minced (optional)
Juice of 1 lime
½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Prepare the Avocados: Cut the avocados in half lengthwise. Remove the pit, then scoop the flesh into a medium mixing bowl. Mash with a fork or potato masher until you reach your desired consistency—chunky or smooth.
- Add Fresh Ingredients: Sprinkle the chopped red onion, cilantro, garlic, and optional jalapeño over the mashed avocado.
- Season: Pour in the lime juice and add salt. Gently fold all ingredients together using a spoon. Taste and adjust seasoning or lime juice as needed.
- Serve: Serve immediately with tortilla chips, fresh veggies, tacos, or as a creamy topping for bowls.
Notes
- Storage: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3–4 days. Press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface to reduce browning. If browning occurs, scrape the top layer off before serving.
- Make-Ahead Tip: Chop all ingredients and juice the lime up to a day ahead. Mash the avocado and combine just before serving.
- Texture Tip: Use a fork for chunkier guacamole or a potato masher for smooth, creamy guac.
- Flavor Variations: Add a pinch of cumin, smoked paprika, or a few diced tomatoes for a unique twist.
