Ingredients
1 large garlic bulb
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
-
Slice off the top of the garlic bulb so the tops of the cloves are exposed.
-
Drizzle olive oil over the cloves and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Wrap the bulb in aluminum foil and place it on a baking sheet.
-
Roast for 15 minutes. Check for doneness – cloves should be soft, golden, and fragrant. If needed, roast a few more minutes.
-
Squeeze or scoop the roasted garlic cloves from the skin and use immediately or store for later.
Notes
- Garlic can be roasted in larger batches; just adjust cooking time slightly.
- Use roasted garlic in spreads, dips, sauces, pastas, roasted vegetables, soups, and even mashed potatoes.
- Adding herbs or spices before roasting can give your garlic extra depth of flavor.
- Make sure not to overcook garlic as it can develop a bitter taste.
