Ingredients
1 can (15 ounces) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1 tablespoon avocado oil or olive oil
2 teaspoons seasoning blend of choice (Cajun, Ranch, or other)
Homemade Seasoning Mix (Optional):
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (380–400°F depending on your appliance).
- Spread the chickpeas in the air fryer basket in a single layer and air fry for 3–5 minutes to dry and start roasting.
- Transfer chickpeas to a medium bowl, add oil and seasoning, and toss to coat evenly.
- Return chickpeas to the air fryer basket and air fry for 12–17 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Shake or stir halfway for even cooking.
- Remove from the air fryer and place in a bowl lined with paper towels or a paper bag to remove any excess oil.
- Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Adjust cooking time for desired crunchiness; less time for slightly softer chickpeas.
- Use any high smoke point oil such as avocado or coconut oil. Avoid extra virgin olive oil for high heat.
- Experiment with different seasonings to suit your taste or make multiple flavors in one batch.
- Store crispy chickpeas in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. Slightly softer chickpeas should be refrigerated and consumed within 2 days. Freeze for up to 4 months.
